In the fall of 2022, Creating Habitats for Pollinators (CHP) planted >41,000 sq. ft. of wildflowers (~1 acre) at two locations in Canton, MI (Patriot Park & Heritage Park).  These sites were selected by the Canton Township Supervisor in consultation with Canton Parks and Recreation and Canton Leisure Services.

The flowers began blooming in Spring 2023 (pictures below).

Planting volunteers came from Community Financial Credit Union, the Dartmouth Club of Detroit, and CHP. CHP was responsible for the seed purchases, selecting appropriate seed mixes, and organizing the plantings. The seed mixes included native plants like Plains Coreopsis, Prairie Aster, Red Columbine, Wild Lupine, Purple Coneflower, and Blanket Flower.
