7 Locations in Plymouth

In April 2023, Creating Habitats for Pollinators (CHP) prepared and planted ~30,000 sq. ft. of wildflowers at 7 locations throughout the township of Plymouth, MI. The planting locations included Pointe Park, Brentwood Park, Fire Station #2, and three sites at East Middle School.

Site prep began in March 2023 with the spraying of several applications of acetic acid solution. It was followed by thatching and seeding in May, 2023. Additional tilling was necessary in June, July, and August. Despite some initial wildflower growth, the areas will be reseeded in November 2023.

This project was supported financially by the Plymouth Community Foundation, the Kiwanis Club of Colonial Plymouth, and the Bosch Community Fund. Volunteers were provided by the Kiwanis Club of Colonial Plymouth.

Located in planting Zone 6, the seed mix included annual flowers like baby’s breath and poppies and perennial native plants like Butterfly Weed, Lance Leaf Coreopsis, Purple Prairie Clover, Red Columbine, Wild Lupine, and Blanket Flower.
