Dothan Brook School

In April 2023, in conjunction with Dartmouth College’s Class of 1989 Wildflower Project, Creating Habitats for Pollinators (CHP) assisted in the planting of 2,000 sq. ft. of wildflowers at 3 locations on the campus of the Dothan Brook School (DBS) in White River Junction, VT.

The areas were sprayed with acetic acid in March before raking, thatching, and seeding in late April. Student volunteers from Dartmouth College, DBS staff, and members of the Dartmouth ’89 alumni class helped with the project.

Located in planting Zones 5a and 5b, the seed mix included annual flowers like Patridge Pea, Indian Blanket, and Cornflower and perennial native plants like Butterfly Weed, Swamp Milkweed, New England Aster, Wild Lupine, and Ox-Eye Sunflower. The flowers began blooming in July 2023.
